GLOBE 'Remapping the World' consists in a series of art works
on concrete
support - painting, photos, objects, slides - and efemer support -
video,
CD-ROM, focused on the concept of global / local identity, on the
concept
of Power and the notion of abstract / intimate space.
In a world that is often too aggressive and desperate many artists
try to
find a physical/physiological balance through Images, created by them
on
concrete or ephemeral supports, that are deeply involved with our
inner and
outer life as human beings. Our wandering through our domestic worlds
as
well as our immersion/absorption into the social worlds, our new relations
with electronic technologies shapes our daily living, remodels our
existence.
Sometime our life, the life of common people and the destiny of small
nation are changed under the will of Power. A Power that combines
cynicism
and arrogance and assumes the right to interfere. Today we speak about
The
New World Order which is not based on a defensive concept but rather
on
violence as a work principle. Numerous voices consider this as 'high-tech
Barbarism'. We are immersed in a new techno environment and we have
to
meditate on the demonic part of technological instruments, which are
very
often used by Power for manipulation, surveillance censoring and
destruction. Sometime TV channels, journals, exhibitions and different
events make compromise to 'self-censorship' and 'the parameters of
acceptable stories'.
Technological culture is part of our life. It offers us possibilities
to
enrich our human experience in new ways of seeing, hearing and thinking.
It
is important to point out that technoculture means not only technology
and
culture as abstract notions, without identity. The technoculture is
constructed by all realities and contexts/situations related to human
communities. Today we like to think the present and the future of
the
humanity in a very extropian way. Yes, this could be valid only if
we
understand the 'concept of neighborhood' as a 'living need' and we
have to
practice an 'ethics of care'.
I believe that the quality of life of human being will be enriched
once
ego/geo consciousness is fully integrated into the ecological mind
of a
revived new Man identity.
Citizen/Netcitizen of world leaving everywhere
geography of self
local perspective/global context
geography of Powers, geography place of reflection
multiple locations/dislocations
ethno, private space/virtual environments
multiple layers of Realities/multiple dimensions
build the rhizomatic human existence today
wishful thinking to an ethics of care with shared beliefs and moral
values
yearning for peace and for a common Paradise on Earth
to reach without aggressiveness the dream of an eugenic world
let build an ecomind for an ecoenvironment.
The installation GLOBE tries to reflect a local / global essentialism
of
existence. Video Globe is based on a performance. During the performance
I
cut, scratch and destroy the globe. All these tortures signify wounds
provoked along history by the impossibility of man to understand the
world
by his incapability to find a way for living together in peace. There
are
images, plenty of aggressiveness interfering with images from my mother's
daily life and her private space. My mother's every day simple life
and her
domestic universe represents the true life and something, which we
have to
preserve. I used as a background a set of fix images representing
unreal
geographical globe maps. Dislocated territories, distorted boundaries
re-modeled the world after an unpredictable will.
I try to find a visual expression for my ideas / believes regarding
the
important problems as concern our contemporary living needs, our local
/
global identity.
In my artwork Image is Message. Through editing or cut and paste I
build
the discourse. My artwork explores various layers of Realities and
has at
its core Man the spiritually beautiful being and alteration in the
context
of the civilization created by him. The human being is situated in
the
world in an interconnection with the material/social worlds. My positive
vision about the world makes me to belief in our immersion in a spiritual
cosmic hologram, into an ethical space of poiesis.
